Friday we took Emme Claire to New Orleans for her third trip this summer. She is such a good little traveler. I couldn't be prouder! We had a good time. Did a lot of walking which means sweating and blisters on the feet! We did a little sight seeing and a lot of cajun food eating. We ate at The Gumbo Shop and Mulate's on Saturday and both were good. I would tell you where we ate Friday night but I can't spell it, it was Gordon something over by the casino. Sunday we stopped at The River Shack Tavern for lunch, it was on the tv show Diners, Drive-In's and Dives on the Food Network. Brian and I both love that show so we decided to go try it, some of the other places that were on the show in New Orleans were either closed on Sundays or too busy with lines out the door. From those three choices I would have to say that The River Shack Tavern is definitely a dive! ha! Their sign says something like Home of the tacky ashtray and if you bring them a tacky ashtray they will give you a free drink.
Saturday we met up with Tim (Brian's brother), Melinda (Tim's fiance) and Lane (Melinda's son) and we all got a snow cone at the Riverwalk Mall and then ate at Mulate's together.
We also ate beignets at Cafe Du Monde which of course were yummy! Oh and on the way home we stopped in Baton Rouge at the Mall of Louisiana and I got some Dippin' Dots. I love that stuff! That's not why we stopped there, we got EC some new board books at Borders book store and I bought an Audrey Hepburn puzzle (she is my favorite actress and I collect all things Audrey Hepburn). I've decided that EC's playroom is going to be decorated in a black, pink and white Audrey Hepburn theme! It's going to be so cute!!! Oh and it will have a bit of a parisian flair to it as well. With eiffel towers, french poodles and such. Back to the subject at hand... we picked the pups up last night and made it home around 9 pm. Which was a good thing because we found out the electricity in our neck of the woods was out for like 4 hours yesterday and so if we had gotten home any earlier we would have been sitting in a hot house! August is too hot for no A/C!
Here are some pics from our mini vacation. These pics are in random order.
